One of the most ethical companies in the world is Kellogg’s
    Based In: Michigan, United States
Ethics: Supports farmers, reduces food loss & waste, low-impact packaging
    Known For: Cereal, crackers, pastries
The convenience foods giant from Battle Creek, Michigan continues to set ethics standards for other companies to follow. Kellogg has one of the smallest plastic packaging footprints among paper food companies, with 76% of its packaging being recycled globally. Their goal is to use 100% sustainable packaging by 2025. All along its value chain, Kellogg is reducing food loss and organic waste to ensure that as much food as possible goes to feeding people.
Mexico City, Mexico – Mexico has become the first country in the world to issue a Sovereign Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Bond, an important step forward in the country's commitment to the achievement of the SDGs, and a major advance for development finance. Per capita income is roughly one-third that of the US; income distribution remains highly unequal. Mexico has become the US' second-largest export market and third-largest source of imports. In 2017, two-way trade in goods and services exceeded $623 billion.

Nestlé is as well-known company nationally in Mexico, you have very surely heard of such a company or brand. In this recent years, Nestlé developed solutions about its packaging since they did damage to the environment of course it was not a company that previously cared about that, but as the world and people grew, the brand changed realized the damage it did to it. to the environment and wanting to change something when you know that you are doing it wrong and wanting to change it to the good, speaks a lot about the company's principles an ethics.

Thanks to the new Nestlé packaging it was possible to reduce an environmental impact, making the packaging recyclable. Thanks to this environmental change, it was recognized as the first plant in Mexico to receive a global certification.

What happens with clients in Mexico, and which I think is due, is a lack of importance, either because they do not care, do not read or do not inform themselves due to ignorance or perhaps because it does not attract their attention. Of course I can be wrong but I think it is due to these reasons.
Perhaps with good advertising campaigns, you generate interest in the customer, it would have to be something flashy and fast when it comes to attracting customer attention, it can be a way but they could also have more ways to do it.

    A) Present an example of a company that has worked with ethical standards and it is well recognized in the business environment for their contributions:
A successful company that works with ethical standards and is heavily recognized in the business environment is “Starbucks”, an American multinational chain of coffeehouses and roastery reserves. Starbucks is committed to 100% sustainably sourced coffee and uses a system called C.A.F.E. (Coffee and Farmer Equity Practices), the Starbucks’ C.A.F.E. system has 4 main ideas which are quality, economic transparency, social responsibility, and environmental leadership. They try to always buy coffee at fair prices and ensure each step of the production (coffee planting, harvesting, processing and purchasing) is done ethically. They promote equal opportunity in its hiring practice and treat everyone with respect and dignity; in an environment free of harassment, bullying and discrimination where diversity is promoted. The Starbucks Foundation has invested more than $25 million in programs that strengthen coffee and tea-growing communities since its founding. On International Women’s Day 2018, the foundation announced a goal to empower 250,000 women and girls in origin communities. In 2020, they supported local and global COVID-19 initiatives that extend emergency assistance to those in need. They have also supported emergency preparedness, response and resilience for disasters like the Australian wildfires, port explosion in Beirut, hurricanes and wildfires in the U.S. and others.

    Patagonia
    Based In: California, United States
Ethics: Organic cotton, environmental sustainability, Fair Trade certificate
    Known For: Outdoor apparel, swimwear
Patagonia easily makes it to the top of any environmental or ethical business list. It’s one of the first outfitters to use recycled materials and organic cotton.
Also, Patagonia is expanding its ethical commitments to fair labor ethics and it works with US factories as often as it can, supporting local economies.
The positive impact that Patagonia’s fair trade factories have around the world is often taken as an example of business ethics. Patagonia makes an impact on the environment helping to recycle a lot and taking care of the world because is one of the few businesses that have these kinds of ethics. All of its cotton is certified organic by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), and it is bluesign certified for some of its fabrics.Patagonia has a statement that is to reduce all kinds of animal suffering. The company also hires activist employees and encourages peaceful environmental protests. Patagonia’s core mission is to save our planet and as Patagonia CEO explains, this “puts a lot of urgency on our steps” but she knows that getting others involved is critical and she works to make that a reality.

For 8 years in a row 3M has been recognized as the world’s most ethical company, is known for their environment protection and sustainable development as their compromise with social responsibility. The company has established a Code of Conduct for their employees and 3rd parties who work in behalf with them, expecting them to be loyal, fair, honest, accurate, respectful and good, but most importantly all of them are lead by example. This code is an ambitious advantage, shapes the company ethical reputation and defines the company’s values. They are recognized in their ethics, integrity, character, and transparency not only between workers but also transmitted by their business manners on to their clients. Every year the company invest $400,000 to local organizations focused on the environment with the purpose of enhancing environmental conservation based on science while improving education for youth. Plus, they provide what they called “3M Eco Grant”, grants for institutions with the goal of encouraging students to connect science, math, engineering, and technology with the world. With the 3M Eco Grant, they create science labs to keep encouraging students, since they´re focus is aimed in creating science-based solutions to global challenges. The change to renewable energy resources, the decrease of greenhouse gas emissions, the rising of circular solutions and the development volunteering programs are some changes and adjustments that the company has made to correspond with their core value, sustainability.

    A) Present an example of a company that has worked with ethical standards and it is well recognized in the business environment for their contributions.

An ethical business demonstrates respect for its employees by valuing opinions and treating each employee as an equal. The business shows respect for its customers by listening to feedback and assessing needs. An ethical business respects its vendors, paying on time and utilizing fair buying practices.

PepsiCo is based in New York, United States, some of its Ethics are racial equality, sustainable agriculture, pay equity, sustainable plastics; and its know for Grain-based snack foods, beverages. PepsiCo has an established elaborate policy on the environment, health, as well as safety management. The policy seeks to ensure that the company caters for its immediate business environment effectively.

PepsiCo is one of those ethical companies that achieve best practices in different fields, such as human rights, sustainable farming, and equal employment opportunities.
Earlier this year, the soft drinks giant announced a more than $400 million initiative over 5 years to empower Black communities and Black representation.
PepsiCo works with over 40,000 farmers through its Sustainable Farming Program. Nearly 80% of its potatoes, whole corn, oats, and oranges are sustainably sourced.

Another important aspect of the environmental management programme is the issue of stakeholder collaboration. PepsiCo works in collaboration with its business partners, such as the contractors, suppliers, licensed bottlers, along with the local communities and customers to limit the health, environmental, and safety outcome related to its daily operations.

The policy comprises of eight critical points that include ownership culture, business integration, regulation compliance, as well as resource allocation. It additionally entails the aspects of performance measurement, continual improvement, together with stakeholder collaboration and annual review.

Mexico is a country rich in many natural resources, therefore we need to improve and conserve the resources that help us to maintain the country. One of the proposals is the care about the companies in the environmental impact, because if we do not have enough attention in this area the big and small corporations could declare thousands of residues that damage the natural environment. That is why big foundations such as greenpeace or WWF create campaigns so that companies seek to be less hostile to the environment. One of the companies which we can use as an example to explain the care of the environmental impact is Banco Santander Mexico. All its water, paper, and energy operations are monitored by the environmental management system (EMS) which guarantees the responsible use of resources. In addition, there is a collaboration between Banco Santander and Sky EPS, a company that has helped the bank to use 53% of its energy from clean and renewable sources. The large corporation tells us that they reduced by 43% the CO2 emissions, 8% of electricity consumption, 34% of the use of paper. I consider that these measures are fundamental for Mexico to be able to continue functioning in comparison to countries such as Germany, USA, France. The disadvantage that exists in our country is the lack of support from the government in the area of environmental care and conservation.

It is an organization dedicated to defining and promoting the standards of business practices in the world, except as a service provider in the United States through TI (a global manufacturer) hardware. Why does this company get so much support now? IBM itself and Morning Consult conducted a survey involving more than 7,000 people in 14 countries/regions. They were asked to rank the perceived value of the company’s efforts to improve the workforce, environmental sustainability, and civil society. The results Eighty percent of respondents said that responsibility is important in prioritizing employees, the environment, and the community, just as they prioritize providing profits to shareholders. Because of this, before that, IBM has been seeking to maintain a balance between finances and profits on a global scale, if we briefly talk about it.

Therefore, when a company search for another company to provide a certain type of service, it always considers the environment, integrity, governance, etc., so 95% of Fortune 500 companies choose IBM. A number is

One of the most ethical companies in the world, which is recognized and is also Mexican, is the BIMBO group, since according to The Ethisphere Institute it is its fifth consecutive year to be included in this list and it is a source of pride since with the pandemic many companies have not been able to maintain themselves, the BIMBO group is recognized for its high human values where it highlights the importance of its collaborators and their beliefs as it seeks to demonstrate the value of the human person and that it is convinced that together as a community they achieve the results that they do. winning in the market and operating efficiently but always acting with integrity and thus ensuring that it transcends and continues to remain over time. For them their mission and vision have always been clear and that is why they have managed to stay for five years, and it is not easy at all since this list includes many points to achieve one of the most ethical companies. Its main mission is to create leaders from which other leaders are close to their collaborators and listen to them, help them grow and recognize their achievements every day, without losing humility and openness to learn, this goes hand in hand with their vision which is to take a step further in leadership and that they must act as true entrepreneurs, only then will all companies manage to remain as ethical companies and be recognized by other companies such as Grupo BIMBO.

Mexico is a country that has almost every resource in this planet, is the fifth most megadiverse country in the world, but anyways we don’t really know how to appreciate this, we have merged in an economy that hangs in commerce, this is not bad, but it makes Mexico a country that cannot take advantage of its natural resources, an example, petroleum for example, all our petroleum was sold to the USA for them to refine it into gasoline, and then the USA sold it back to Mexico, so there was no gain, now Mexico is going to build a refinery, but every country is going for the green technologies, such as Eolic Energy and else, this refinery must have been an excellent contribution to the Mexico, but 20 years ago, nowadays is obsolete, and all of this because the industry here has never been the main focus, we are totally dependable from The USA and T-MEC so we Mexican people has always gotten outdated things respect technologies so people in Mexico are adapted to this and the salaries are completely different here and in France Germany etc.… salaries here are bad and the sustainable products are pricey, even with this problems, we have tried to be more greener taking care of our garbage and trying to pollute less, but we know the real problem is in the outdated industries who don’t care about environment but for the money, little spending, huge gain, but someday no one will buy the products of the outdated companies so they will lose very much.

It was Founded in 1969 in California, as a fast fashion Gap has almost 4,000 stores worldwide, and over the decades Gap has built its name as a go-to for fashionable and affordable clothing.
Gap demonstrates leadership in managing water use in its supply chain. An example of this is that they got an ‘A’ in the Carbon Disclosure Project water security. It also uses some eco-friendly materials including recycled materials, though there is no evidence of textile waste when manufacturing its products. And while it has set a science-based target to reduce greenhouse gas emissions generated from its own operations and supply chain, there is no evidence it is on track to meet its target.
Gap has a basic formal policy to protect animal welfare, which is a step in the right direction, and it doesn’t use fur, down, or exotic animal skin.
There is also no evidence it traces any animal products to the first stage of production. This means we can be sure about the welfare of the animals or workers involved in the production process.

Overall Gap has some promising environmental measures in place, but it still needs some changes to make.

I believe that the reason why people in Mexico consume fewer products that are sustainable lies in the awareness that the general population has regarding sustainability and the impact that these product choices have, much of this stems from ignorance and lack of knowledge about it. From an early age many people educate their children with a certain awareness regarding the environment and about our world, but unfortunately not all the population handles this type of education at the household level, causing there to be little awareness regarding the consumption of sustainable products. can attribute many current problems of our country.
I think that one way to make people consume these products and want them is to raise awareness at the national level regarding these important issues, personally I would do it through marketing showing the damage caused by the consumption of unsustainable products and how it affects them. in their lives, making them realize this would allow them to generate consumer awareness so that they would decide to consume sustainable products, this would not only benefit the environment but indirectly by making this aware we would be helping in an enormous diversity of problems at the national level mainly caused by the lack of awareness in our society.
